For patients

What is a trichologist?

A trichologist is a specialist trained to diagnose and treat conditions of the hair and scalp — including hair loss, thinning, scalp inflammation, and breakage. Many hold certifications from bodies like the International Association of Trichologists (IAT) or World Trichology Society (WTS); some are also licensed dermatologists or cosmetologists.

Is Trichology.com free for patients?

Yes. Browsing the directory and sending consultation requests is completely free. We don't charge patients, sell your data, or resell your contact information.

Are reviews real?

Every review is read by a human moderator before publication. We block obviously fake or hostile reviews and verify that the reviewer has had genuine contact with the practice.

Do specialists pay to be listed?

Free listings are permanent. Specialists can optionally pay for upgraded plans that add richer media and priority lead routing — but no amount of payment ever buys verification or a fake review.

How is a trichologist different from a dermatologist?

Dermatologists are medical doctors who can prescribe medication and perform procedures. Trichologists specialize specifically in hair and scalp. Many of the best practices combine both — and a trichologist will refer you to a dermatologist when medical treatment is indicated.

For specialists

How long does verification take?

Most applications are reviewed within 2 business days. Complex cases (international credentials, name changes) can take up to 5 business days.

What if I'm not yet certified?

We require at least one recognized trichology credential or a license that includes scalp/hair scope. If you're mid-program, apply once you've completed certification.

Can I claim an existing listing?

Yes. If your practice is already in the directory, use the 'Claim this listing' link on your profile and we'll verify your identity before transferring access.

How do consultation requests reach me?

Every request is emailed instantly to the address on your account and appears in your dashboard. Higher-tier plans get priority routing and longer SLA windows.

Can multiple practitioners share one facility listing?

Yes. Facilities can invite multiple specialists from their dashboard. Each specialist still gets a personal profile linked to the facility.

Trust & moderation

How do you handle disputes?

Both patients and specialists can flag a review or listing. Our moderation team reviews every report within 2 business days and either edits, hides, or upholds the content with an explanation.

What if a listing has incorrect information?

Anyone can report a listing using the 'Report' button on a profile. Verified specialists can correct their own information directly from the dashboard.

Do you share patient data?

Never. Consultation requests go only to the specialist you contact. We don't sell leads to third parties or resell them to other practices.
